facebook ahh

I posted this on my facebook status:

someone tell me why should I play mafia wars

About 15 minutes later, I checked my facebook account.
Guess what? There were two comments on my status, just like what I have expected there would be.
One says I shouldn't because it's a waste of time, one says it's fun.
hahahahaha (:
People are now 24/7 on facebook.
I posted that status just to see how many people would actually comment. And how fast.

I am reading my Media in America article right now about the blogging phenomena and it just struck to me that what was on the article is so apt. Sometimes I feel like the article actually says out what I feel because it's so true. I think Facebook can be considered the new media too. People are now constantly on facebook. I could poke you, like your status, tag you in a photo, ask you to take some quizzes, see who our common friends are, accept new friend requests, join a group and the list just goes on and on. Don't you think facebook takes up a huge amount of our time? I wouldn't call myself a facebook addict but I never forget to log in to my facebook account everytime my laptop is on. Oooopss. And I would always scroll down my home page (is that what you called it?) to check out what's interesting. I seldom comment but it's interesting to see what other people posted up.

At this point of time, I went to check my facebook account again and I got a wall post from my friend. I replied. And I went to read some notes and checked out some photos and replied to a wall post from the same friend before returning to finish this post.

So, yea, don't you think facebook is playing such a huge role in our hmmm cyber life? Hahaha (: Have I mentioned earlier? Maybe not. My lecturer went to facebook and checked each and everyone of us (his students) out and saved our display pictures and then he put them on his powerpoint slides to let the whole class see! WOW. Maybe he is trying to prove the point that media is a well, public thing? Haha (:

So, the next time you wanna give out your hp number or your home address, maybe you should considering using the inbox function in facebook instead of the wall post in facebook? I mean you don't want some annonymous send you a message in the middle of the night or sending you a parcel you which might contain unknown items, right? (:
